Summer Game Fest organizer Geoff Keighley has announced that one of the games being showcased during this Friday's presentation will be Bokeh Game Studio's Slitterhead, which is the brainchild of Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Keighley says that the "gameplay world premiere" of Slitterhead will be shown during the Summer Game Fest opening presentation, which will be happening at 5pm Eastern on Friday.
Slitterhead was first unveiled back in 2021 as part of that year's Game Awards ceremony. A teaser trailer for the game was shown, revealing its art direction and some of its creature design (although, crucially, no gameplay was demonstrated).

The game was actually teased earlier than that year's Game Awards, though. It's possible to see some concept art for what would eventually become Slitterhead in a video announcing the foundation of Bokeh Game Studio from back in late 2020.
After the Game Awards reveal, Bokeh began to tease more information about Slitterhead.
The company has released a series of dev diaries showing off the development process for the game, including one in which we get to see some user testing phase footage (and a very brief snippet of rather early-in-development-looking gameplay).
In addition to these videos, Bokeh has also released several Q&A sessions with horror luminaries and industry legends, including chats with horror manga icon Junji Ito, Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka, and Dragon's Dogma head honcho Hideaki Itsuno.

It's not clear exactly how far along the development pipeline Slitterhead actually is, but the fact that Bokeh is showing gameplay this Friday is encouraging, at least.
We still don't have a release date or even a release window for Slitterhead, but perhaps we'll learn more about when we can expect the game to land later this week. Stay tuned for all the news from Summer Game Fest as and when we get it.
