Cygames has announced that horse girl gacha game Umamusume: Pretty Derby is officially making its way to the West at some point in the future.
Per a post on a newly-created X (formerly Twitter) account for the game's Western release, Umamusume: Pretty Derby's Western launch is "on the way", although sadly, we don't have a release date or even a window for it yet.
As the game's official website notes, however, it will be a free-to-play game that'll launch on both iOS and Android. In Japan, the game is also available on PC, but sadly, the PC version doesn't seem to be coming West. Still, there's always BlueStacks, eh?

Along with announcing the Western release of Pretty Derby, developer and publisher Cygames has also revealed the opening movie for the game, titled "Girls' Legend U".
It's a 3D-rendered sequence that effectively serves as a tone-setter for Umamusume: Pretty Derby, and it's soundtracked by a very upbeat song with cutesy lyrics.
You can check out "Girls' Legend U" right here. It should get you hyped to play the English version of this deeply strange but rather endearing-looking gacha game.
If you're not familiar with Umamusume: Pretty Derby, it's...well, it's a gacha game in which famous racehorses from history have been transformed into anime girls.
These horse girls compete for the chance to earn fame and fortune at Tracen Academy in Tokyo. They're based on real horses, too; horses like Special Week, Meijiro McQueen, and Cesario appear in the manga and its various spinoff media (including the game).
This technically isn't the first Umamusume: Pretty Derby announcement for the West, either. Back in June last year, Cygames announced that party game Umamusume: Pretty Derby - Party Dash would be coming West sometime in 2024, and in April, a new trailer announced a release date of August 30th.
We don't have a release window for Umamusume: Pretty Derby in the West yet. Stay tuned for more info on this one.
